Grades 5 & 6
This class is the first part of designing and building an electric car that can be ridden by students in competition with 5th and 6th grade students from other schools. In this class students will design and build a small model electric car. Students will work in teams to design cars from the body up including figuring out how to wire the car, steering, and braking. Students should bring “junk” (small wood scraps, wires, batteries, round stuff, etc.) to class on the first day. The focus will be on team-work, innovation and creativity, and problem solving. Limit 12 students

Prerequisite B*E*S*T 1.
In this class students will work as a team to design and build one electric car that students can ride on and drive. They will compete with students from other schools in races at the Field House in May. The motor and batteries will be provided but all other materials are “junk” that students bring in (wood or metal scraps, wire, nuts, screws, bolts, etc.). Students will be working with real tools, saws, hammers, screw drivers, etc. with adult supervision. The focus will be on safety, team-work, innovation and creativity, and problem solving. Limit 12 students
